Serving Dinner at St. Vincent de Paul
On Friday 8/23 we'll be back to serve dinner to families in need at SVDP!

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Milwaukee is an organization dedicated to the elimination of hunger and poverty in our community.  They provide free meals 5 nights per week at this location, as well as at a location on Milwaukee's south side.  Last year, they served over 102,000 meals, over 15,000 of those meals were served to children.

There are two opportunities to serve:

    1) SBK families will help serve dinner to 100+ adults and children.  Families are asked to bring 100% juice (& gently used children's books if you have them!) to share with the guests as well as serve them dinner.  Max capacity 8 families, all ages welcome.  Current members can sign up.

    2) Drop off 100% Juice and/or Gently Used Children's Books Prior to our organizer's home in Milwaukee (exact address to be provided to those who sign up).  No max capacity, open to everyone.

NOTE: There is no specific age requirement, but because we will be serving to the public, SVDP reminds us that it is very important to be attentive to your kids during the project.

Thank you for lending a hand!

Registration For Sunbeam Kids Members is now open.

On Sunday 8/25 we will be doing a project with one of our newer community partners -- Foresthill Highlands Senior Living Community for 55+.

During our first project together with the residents we did a craft project, and this time we're going to strengthen our intergenerational bonds along with our bodies through chair yoga!

The class will be instructed by our Advisory Council member Nicole Cassidy, who is a trained yoga instructor. Thanks to Nicole for volunteering to lead this project!

Getting/staying moving is so important to our physical and mental health at all ages. Beyond these benefits of yoga movements, the bonus impact of this project will be your child's ability to bring lots of laughs and smiles to the residents as we try something that will be new to many people attending!

This project is open to all ages. Capacity 8-10 families.

Registration options for SBK Members and Community Friends is now open.

On Tuesday 8/27 we will be packing lunches for Street Angels with donations from the community as well as items our project attendees will bring! During this project, Sunbeam Kids will be packing 60 bag lunches which will be distributed that evening during the Street Angels outreach.

There are two ways to lend a hand:

    1) Attend the project and bring food or bottled water for the lunch pack (members).

Please sign up to attend through our normal way here on the website so we know you would like to attend, but also use this link to sign up for items you can bring to pack.  Capacity 8 families.

    2) Drop off items prior at our project planner's home in Wauwatosa (everyone).

Please use this link to sign up for items to drop off prior.  Thank you for lending a hand--your contributions will help make this project possible and this can also be an impactful experience for your kiddos by letting them choose what they think the person receiving the items would enjoy!  No capacity.

    About Street Angels

Three nights a week, the Street Angels take to the street to distribute life sustaining needs to our city's most vulnerable population. Street Angels is able to provide food, water, clothing, hygiene items, blankets and other needed items to Milwaukee County‚Äôs homeless population. Street Angels is often the first responders to those in a homeless crisis.  In addition to the hot meals they provide, the Street Angels provide a "lunch for later" to friends on the street.

This project is open to all ages.
