Mission
To engage kids with the world around them through community service projects so they experience how even little hands can make a big impact when they open their hearts and minds to the needs of others.
| PurposeTo develop self-confident and broad-thinking children who grow up knowing they can make a difference in the world. |
History & Outlook Sunbeam Kids, Inc. started in 2013 because our founder was interested in ways to help her kids learn about community service, but age-appropriate volunteer opportunities were hard to come by for kids under 12. She heard other parents wishing for the same thing and decided to take action. Together, the four founding board members worked hard to bring the vision to life. In 2015 the board expanded, then in 2016 the Advisory Council kicked off to help expand the reach of the organization. Sunbeam Kids is run entirely by volunteers and has been growing with the help of great families from all around the Greater Milwaukee Area. We are now working on further expanding our reach by providing resources to make it easier for other people to plan their own projects for youth groups, scout troops, classrooms, etc. We are also expanding our reach through the Project in a Box program, which helps at-risk kids be the ones who are doing the service projects so they can gain the confidence that comes from they can make a difference when lending a little hand. Today our membership continues to grow and we can't wait to continue to help busy families volunteer together! | Why it's Important Kids' ability to understand and contribute to the world around them is so great even at an early age. We work to nurture self confidence and a lifelong sense of community mindedness. To do this we find fun ways to help kids connect with their community and allow them to offer their little helping hands along side family and friends. Their work benefits many inspiring nonprofit organizations, primarily in the greater Milwaukee area. |
