Thank you for your interest! This project is now open for Sunbeam Kids Members to sign up and for Community Member drop-off of items.
Sunbeam Kids' first project was with Kids Matter, Inc. lending a hand to local kids in foster care. Now, almost six years later, we are happy to continue to work with them again on this project!
There are two ways to help with this project:
1) Sign up to attend with your kids (must be a member to sign up)
2) Sign up to drop off donations prior in Elm Grove (all are welcome to donate!)
We'll be lending a hand to kids in foster care by collecting items to donate, sorting the items, learning from our guest visitor from Kids Matter about life for local kids in foster care (age appropriate using Carli from Sesame Street) and making cards with positive, encouraging messages that Kids Matter, Inc. will share with the kids they serve.
Capacity & Age Recommendations:
We'll have room for up to 30 families at this project.
All ages are welcome, but using Carli from Sesame Street may make this project appeal to our younger members ages 3-8.
Older kids are welcome to come help with the project and/or focus on helping the younger kids. We can sign forms for service hours!
What to bring:
Please sign up to bring items to donate, if you are able, so we have enough to pack together as a group...but also because it helps kids connect knowing the item(s) they brought are helping kids who sometimes have to move around with very few items of their own--sometimes only in a plastic garbage bag.
We look forward to doing this project--hope to see you there!
THROWBACK...This was not our first project for Kids Matter, but this is the last one we did for them, called WE CARE (hence the Care Bear who joined us), back in Sept '15. They all look so little, don't they?!
