Registration

Registration is closed

We have several project registrations coming out today...please stay tuned! Also, our leadership team volunteers are working hard behind the scenes to plan ahead so we can announce all projects at the beginning of the month in the future so you don't get so many different project announcement emails :)

TOP Soccer is Back!

We've had fun with TOP Soccer in the past and we're so glad it's back! It's a smaller project than basketball and baseball - we need 6 kids total to be buddies for our friends in this YMCA adaptive soccer league.

On Wed, Feb 22nd Sunbeam Kids will be assisting youth with diverse-abilities at a TOP Soccer game through the YMCA.  Volunteers age 12+ will be buddies to assist players on and off the field as they play soccer-related games.  The players will have a range of abilities and our kids will fill in however is most useful to the YMCA coach and players - it's all about staying flexible to lend a little hand however we can.

This is a great chance for our SBK kids who love sports to play with some new team members, however, no sports experience is necessary...just wear soccer appropriate attire (and SBK shirts if you have them ;). Please bring a soccer ball if you have one, otherwise we can bring one for you - just let us know if you need a ball.

Our Advisory Council member Rachl Sweet be leading this project! More information will be sent upon registration.

The Details:

Registration Type: This project will be open to SBK members* first, and registration will be opened to guests if space allows.

Ages: 12+ for buddies per the YMCA, but younger siblings are welcome to come and cheer.

Maximum Capacity: 6 buddies ages 12+ (kids, or adults if needed to fill spots)

Cancellation:  Please only sign up if you know the date/time works for you. However, if an emergency or sickness comes up and you need to cancel we understand and just ask that you let us know ASAP so we can find another buddy.

*As a reminder, while donations fuel our work we never want the $40/year membership fee to prevent a family from joining so please email us and we'll offer a scholarship membership (100% confidential).

-----------------

We understand that some kids/families like to know what to expect at projects before feeling comfortable signing up.  While this is soccer, it's a sister program to Miracle League Baseball. Here's a little about the baseball program, which has been in place longer with the same philosophies.

"The Miracle League believes everyone deserves the chance to play baseball. The league allows all children to play organized baseball, regardless of ability. Kids with special-needs dress in uniforms, make plays in the field and round the bases, just like their peers in standard little leagues."

Check out this brief video from TMJ4

Thank you for lending a hand - we can't wait to get back out and play some soccer related games!
