Lending Our Paws to HAWS

Overview:

Let's lend our paws for HAWS!

The Humane Animal Welfare Society's mission is to lead the community in animal welfare and assure sanctuary for animals in need. HAWS envisions a community where all animals are treated with compassion, dignity and respect!

Join us October 17th from 5:00-6:30 pm to tour HAWS and drop off any at home projects that you're able to make to support the work they do here.

What to expect:

We'll bring any completed at home project donations (see below), and then get a tour of the facility.

Capacity & Age Recommendations:

Any age is welcome at this project. We have space for approximately 7 families to sign up, dependent on the size of the SBK families attending (please use an accurate headcount in your registration for this reason).

What to bring:

HAWS has provided us with two easy options for "at home projects". Though not required to attend, we hope you'll consider making one of the options to bring along to the tour if you are able. They are:

#1.) Pinecone bird feeders: Cover a pinecone in peanut butter, role in bird seed, and tie on a fishing line to hang on branches.

#2.) "Fish fudge": Used for dog training treats. This simple recipe will be included in the registration email.

What to wear:

Kids are welcome to wear their SBK shirts/lanyards if they would like.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

This project is currently open to members* but we will be happy to open it up to guests of space allows. Please only sign up if you know you can attend. We understand illness and emergencies do come up so if you register and can no longer attend, please let us know ASAP so we can fill your spot.

A big thanks to our Board member/project leader Melissa Bushman for leading this project, and thank you for lending a little hand!

*While we rely on member donations to keep the good work going, we never want the $40/family/year to be a hurdle to volunteering with us. If you are in need of assistance, we do have a limited number of scholarships available that are 100% confidential, just email and ask!
