Back to School Playground Games Night for Fostering Community
Overview:
Fostering Families is a local organization that supports families involved in fostering and adoption. There are more than 2,000 children in foster care in Milwaukee County. Fostering Families seeks to encourage and empower families involved with both fostering and adoption through family events and community connections.
Fostering Families is collecting school supplies for over 100 foster kids to start off the upcoming school year. We want to make our support of this drive a little extra fun by adding in a playground games night as well where we can spend a little time as families in our SBK community having some summer fun together!
What to expect:
While everyone gathers, we'll spend some time sorting the school supplies and making some encouraging notes to include with the items we'll be sending off to the foster families. Then we'll spend the rest of the time having some good old fashioned playground fun together playing classic games like freeze tag, duck duck goose, kickball, etc.- whatever the kids want to play! There is also a playground at the park for kids that want to opt out of any of the games.
Capacity & age recommendations:
All ages are welcome- we'll gear our playground games toward the ages of the kids attending. We're happy to welcome as many families as want to join, including guests.
What to bring:
Bring your creativity for making the "happy back to school" cards, and, if you are able, please consider bringing school supplies for Fostering Community's drive. They're hoping to collect and fill over 100 backpacks, and we would love to help push them closer to meeting this goal! See Fostering Community's Target wishlist HERE for an idea of their most needed items. You can also sponsor a kid by signing up for a specific child HERE and picking out a backpack just for them!
Can't make it, but still want to contribute school supplies? We'll have drop off bin locations in Brookfield and Pewaukee through Wednesday 7/24. Exact address will be provided upon registration. Fostering Families also has multiple drop off locations throughout Waukesha and Milwaukee counties- feel free to drop off at Bug & Goose (Elm Grove and Delafield), Eagle Park Brewery (Milwaukee and Muskego), and Drybar (Milwaukee and Whitefish Bay).

*While we rely on member donations to keep the good work going, we never want the $40/family/year to be a hurdle to volunteering with us. If you are in need of assistance, we do have a limited number of scholarships available that are 100% confidential, just email and ask!
